Which broth should you pick for your pet? 🐾

With our ever growing selection of broths, it can become slightly confusing which protein to choose when you're just starting out with feeding your pet broth. But not to worry, this blog will help break down the benefits of our various proteins and broths, to hopefully help you narrow down your selection and choose the perfect ones.

Generally speaking, we recommend mixing up the proteins to continuously provide a variety of protein building blocks, gut fuel and immune support. However, as dogs and cats are individuals, they have different needs and sensitivities, so this guide should help start you off on the right foot - or should we say, paw. 😉

Our following broths are infused with parsley, dandelion and thyme which are incredible and supporting the bodies detoxing pathways. Parsley is incredible for detoxing the blood, thyme has anti-septic properties that help fight bacteria build up in the body and it also acts as a gentle diuretic moving excess fluid and toxins out of the body. Dandelion is mostly looked at as a "weed" but is actually such an amazing powerhouse plant that breaks down histamine in the liver and also gently detoxes the body.

🐃 Beef - A long time best-seller for good reason, this broth is a great starting point. It has incredible amounts of type 3 collagen which makes up about 90% of the collagen in the body. Beef bone broth is incredible for dogs and cats struggling with digestive upset or chronic GI problems because type 3 collagen supports regeneration and healing of connective tissue. It can help heal the gut lining damaged from overconsumption of processed foods, steroids and antibiotics.

This broth provides a great variety of protein building blocks and minerals, and beef also has neutral energy which is a great option for dogs and cats with sensitivities.

🐓 Chicken - This broth has mostly type 2 collagen which is supportive for joints and supportive tissues like tendons and ligaments. It also helps repair the gut lining to strengthen the immune system and support digestion. This is a great protein option for kitties, as it is a more natural prey source in a size that cats could naturally hunt.

It has warming energy which can sometimes enhance inflammation in the body for dogs who already run warmer. Most pets tend to have a sensitivity to chicken due to it being one of the most used protein sources for puppy and kitten food. Overexposure to low quality protein can increase sensitivities but our chickens are pasture-raised and are thus a much healthier option that can properly nourish the body.

🐖 Pork - As another neutral protein option, this pasture-raised pork is a great addition to any feeding routine. It is a rich source of niacin and thiamine – both part of the group of B vitamins – as well as selenium, zinc, and vitamins B12 and B6. It is also extremely flavorful and dogs tend to like the taste.

There is also a good amount of type 2 and 3 collagen that supports gut health and connective tissue in general.

🦃 Turkey - This is by far a pet favorite due to lots of flavor from remaining meat and skin on the bones. Turkey does have neutral energy, thus making it a great option for pets with sensitivities and it has calming properties like l-tryptophan which helps soothe an inflamed body.

Due to the amounts of skin and meat, it can have higher histamine levels. Thus, if you have a pet that is currently battling inflammation, we would recommend starting with a lower histamine option like pork, rabbit or beef.

🐑 Lamb - This broth is a warming bone broth that is made from pasture-raised lamb. It is packed with zinc, iron, vitamin B12, fatty acids, folate, selenium, amino acids, and vitamin K2.

It is a more unique protein that is often recommended for pets with GI problems, however, from an energetic standpoint this is a warming protein which is more suitable for cold natured pets.

🐰 Rabbit - This is a cooling protein that is a great option for any pet. Rabbit is considered a novel protein that has the ability to help reduce inflammation and counter heat in the body. We highly recommend this protein for dogs and cats that struggle with any form of inflammation. It will be loaded with type 2 collagen due to smaller bones and joints.

It provides amazing protein building blocks to help the body heal and regenerate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While our daily broths have minimal ingredients which are a great option for any dog or cat, we do have two very special curations that were made with ultimate health and well-being in mind and are easy to integrate into your feeding routine or broth rotation.

🍄 Mushroom Broth - This broth is a one-of-a-kind curation that provides an incredible base for immune support. Made from shiitake, lions mane and oyster mushrooms, this broth supports cognitive function, protects neural function and the brain while also encouraging killer T cell production. In addition, this broth is made with garlic which is great for circulatory health, seaweed as a source of iodine and minerals, as well as thyme and parsley.

If you are worried about whether your pet will like this broth, we have had no trouble. Dogs and cats like the umami taste!

Note: Garlic is not toxic to either cats or dogs. It is very much supportive in the body and helps filter the blood.

🦬 Boosted Bison - The mission behind this broth was to curate a broth that drives longevity in the body. Not only did we use bison, which is a neutral protein that is a novel protein, meaning dogs and cats are rarely intolerant to it but we enhanced it with some powerhouse ingredients.

We added Brussels sprouts which are known for their powerful cancer fighting properties. We also used shiitake mushrooms for their immune benefits and reishi mushrooms which are known to be the most powerful cancer fighting mushroom.

It wouldn't be our broth if we didn't use some special herbs. Oregano contains thymol and carvacol which are powerful antioxidants that reduce fatty acid oxidation. Cilantro aids in blood detoxification and elimination of heavy metals, it can also help improve digestion and reduce inflammation.

And to top it all off we wanted add green tea leaves to take it to the next level. THis powerful, antioxidant-rich, anti-inflammatory plant has been found to support brain health, digestion and even lower the risk of cancer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We hope this list can help you decide which broth is your preferred starting point, but like we said: We recommend adding them all to your rotation if possible and if your pet can have them, because it will provide the best variety of nutrients for optimal, full body healing.

Of course, if you have any questions or are still not sure, we are always here to help customize your order.
